My name is Molly Swift and in 2014 I got into tutoring to help one of my mom's friends' son in math. It turned out that I found a calling to teaching math and helping others understand it! I have grown up in Norman, graduated from Norman North, and went on to graduate with honors from the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma with a BS in Mathematics! I have several references, however for th

I have a teacher; why do I need tutoring? First, it is important to recognize that teachers are underpaid, undervalued, understaffed, and underfunded, so as amazing as teachers are, they are backed into a corner most of the time. So, when a student needs more guidance than what standard class hours can provide, we often need to look elsewhere. What are the benefits of private tutoring over other types for educational support? Private; the biggest most important difference is private! A lot of students (me included) can be really uncomfortable voicing that they don’t understand something in front of their peers, so in a private setting a lot of the pressure to “be in the know” is gone. The next big benefit is that your tutor will learn your learning style and anticipate areas that may need some extra help. This becomes incredibly helpful when a student's learning style doesn’t match with their teacher's teaching style. Have you ever spent hours scouring the internet for an answer to a question and you find that you weren’t even asking the right question? Tutors are really good at taking the vague “I don’t get it”s, finding the actual question, and answering it in a way that the specific student actually understands. Plus at Molly’s Math Tutoring we have snacks! Other than standard private tutoring I also offer the following services:
AP Calculus Prep (AB/BC): AP Calculus is a beast unlike any most students have ever encountered. It is the first glimpse into advanced mathematics, which can be really daunting. Where most math classes a highschooler has taken to this point have been computational (focused on taking numbers and formulas and turning them into answers) AP Calculus is very conceptual (focused on the how and why of math). And to add insult to injury there is the dreaded AP Test at the end of the year. So, I have created a more indepth tutoring experience just for AP Calculus, with more resources, more test practice, and more conceptual understanding! So that you can have confidence in your calculus and confidently take the AP Test!
