Cut the cable on the pulley system and go with a Liftbeam door assist!

We used metal to cover up some broken concrete on the side. We also used a metal plate so the door wouldn’t be so large and heavy. The stairs pretty much went straight down so there was no worry about anybody hitting their head on the plate as they walked down.
