On Sunday, Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey's Instagram account featured photos of Ivey as a little girl, saying this is the little girl from Camden who grew up to be Alabama's governor. Perhaps unexpectedly, the comment section of that post was flooded by hundreds of people demanding clemency for Alabama inmate Charles Lee "Sonny" Burton, who was scheduled to be put to death this week.

"On Tuesday morning, Gov. Ivey did the right thing," writes cartoonist JD Crowe. "She commuted Sonny Burton’s death sentence."

"Thanks for doing the right thing, Guvnah," Crowe continues. "Whether you admit it or not, I think you made ‘Just a girl from small-town Camden’ proud."
