Couldn’t find more pics so this’ll have to do.

Happy Women In Sports Day!

It’s been exciting to witness the exponential growth in women’s sports over the past few years. And even more exciting to see little kids watch grown-up women and non-binary athletes take the field/ice/court/pool, giving them a beacon of hope, realizing those little dreams can come true.

Sports changed my life. It’s shaped who I am. It’s how I see the world. The thing I measure myself against. It provided a space for happiness and self-expression. And to learn how to keep going even when it’s hard.

Hard work beats out talent.

And I love watching, on prime time tv, elite women and nonbinary athletes do what they do best. Cheers to women’s sports, always and forever.

It’s le***an day of visibility so I’m out here being visible, which is very different than the days I get dressed on social media 😏

When I came out I didn’t want to be visible for a while. And then slowly I realized how important it was to choose myself and be unapologetically me — a constant goal I’m working towards, unpacking layers at a time.

I was afraid of the judgement, rejection, stereotypes, cutting words, abandonment.

It’s funny (not funny, that’s just what people say when it’s uncomfortable) that my q***r experience is not singular.

Turns out the more ‘me’ I became, the less I cared about the above. The more I decided to stand firm, planted in the ground and exist in spaces, the world, systems, that actively try to erase and push aside and worse…

I get the “how can I help you sir” more times than I’d like. Gender is one of those things I’m becoming more apathetic towards, except when I get looked in the eyes and be told I’m in the wrong bathroom. F**k you.

And my le***an identity, the womenhood I hold, is so so important to me.

I’d much prefer to be in q***r spaces because the joy that’s brought to the circle is unmatched. Because it’s celebrated in ways that the heteros could never.

I prefer to consume q***r TV, movies, books, podcasts, conversations. I prefer to have q***r conversations too. And to center q***r people as much as humanly possible.

I love being a le***an. I love being q***r. I love being non-binary. And I love my q***r family.
