People may draw the wrong conclusion here. I managed 504's in school districts and they, in and of themselves, are not panaceas. In this story, the thing that likely improved the student's behavior and performance was the positive attention, something SO many kids need and few get. The diagnosis, 504 plan, and accommodations are all fine but the real issue here is the personal attention to the student as a person not as a performer.
