The hotel is an example of Mayan Revival architecture still in existence. The Aztec Hotel was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. It was designed by architect Robert Stacy-Judd, and built on U.S. So the next time you are driving down that historic highway, pull over and enjoy one of the "most unique" buildings in California take a look at this bit of Southern California's history, there is much to see in this unique piece of architecture.
