Monroe County Museum System
We house one of the largest collections of artifacts relating to Southeast Michigan. Only a small percentage of the total collection can be exhibited at one time; many exhibits are changed each year. We are a unit of the County of Monroe, Michigan, governed by the County of Monroe, Michigan Board of Commissioners, and generously funded by the citizens of Monroe County. Also, we're filled with awesome stuff; you should come and see.
Due to the ongoing air quality alert, the operations of Territorial Park on the River Raisin and the Vietnam Veterans Museum will be paused for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

Marge (Marguerite) Fogarty, IHM, recently completed the final star on a hand-sewn replica of the first American flag to reach Michigan Territory—a special America250 project led by the Monroe County Museum System.
More than 90 volunteers contributed nearly 27,000 hand stitches to recreate the historic 15-star, 15-stripe flag that first flew over Michigan in 1796. Sister Marge's careful craftsmanship completed this remarkable community effort, continuing a long IHM tradition of using sewing skills in service to others.

Ach, they grow up so fast. 🌱
Part of recreating everyday life in the 1810s is growing the same things they did. In our field this year you'll find Long Island Cheese Pumpkins, Jerusalem Artichokes, and New England Eight Row "Otto File" flint corn.
Will we be "knee-high by the 4th of July?" Come find out! Visit us at Territorial Park on the River Raisin Thursday-Saturday all summer from 10 AM to 4 PM to encounter 1817!
