Suspects Tied to More Than 100 Pharmacy Burglaries Arrested After Pursuit in Monroe
A coordinated response by local law enforcement agencies last Thursday led to the arrest of two suspects believed to be connected to more than 100 pharmacy break-ins across multiple states.
Officers with the Monroe Police Department received information to be on the lookout for a black BMW believed to have been involved in the breaking and entering of a pharmacy in Concord, North Carolina. Around 4:15 a.m. on June 18, 2026, a Monroe Police Department Sergeant observed a vehicle matching the description entering Monroe on Concord Highway.
When the sergeant attempted an investigative stop, the driver refused to stop and fled. During the pursuit, officers successfully deployed tire deflation devices, causing the vehicle to eventually come to a stop.
Multiple occupants exited the vehicle and fled on foot. While running, the suspects discarded prescription medications that investigators believe were stolen during the pharmacy break-in.
Monroe Police Department officers, working alongside the Union County Sheriff's Office, utilized drone technology and K9 units to search the area. As a result of the coordinated effort, two suspects were taken into custody.
The suspects were identified as Rashaad Wilson, 25, and Tomas Wesley, 26, both of Bishopville, South Carolina.
Through the course of the investigation, officers learned the two arrested individuals are suspected of involvement in more than 100 pharmacy burglaries across multiple states. The investigation remains active as detectives continue working with law enforcement agencies from multiple jurisdictions.
"This arrest highlights the effectiveness of strong partnerships between law enforcement agencies and the use of technology and specialized resources to apprehend dangerous offenders," said Monroe Police Department Chief Rhett Bolen. "The swift actions of our officers, deputies, K9 teams, and drone operators prevented these suspects from escaping and helped recover stolen prescription medications before they could reach our communities."
Additional charges are expected as the investigation continues

Monroe Officer Spots Wanted Vehicle, Leading to Fugitive’s Arrest After Pursuit
A wanted fugitive with multiple outstanding warrants is in custody following a coordinated effort between the Monroe Police Department and the Union County Sheriff's Office.
At approximately 10:54 a.m. today, Wednesday, June 17, an officer assigned to the Monroe Police Department Traffic Division observed a vehicle enter into Monroe that officers had been attempting to locate in connection with a larceny from the previous day. When the officer activated emergency equipment to initiate a traffic stop, the driver immediately fled, traveling west toward Charlotte.
Monroe Police officers coordinated with the Union County Sheriff's Office as the pursuit continued. Tire deflation devices were successfully deployed in the Indian Trail area, disabling the vehicle and bringing the pursuit to a safe conclusion. Officers from both agencies quickly took the driver into custody without further incident.
The driver was identified as Joseph Oneil Singleton, 25, of Charlotte. During the investigation, officers determined Singleton was listed as a wanted person by the North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections. He was also found to have six active outstanding warrants and an active felony probation violation.
Singleton was arrested and will be processed into the Union County Detention Center, where he will face the outstanding charges and warrants.
The Monroe Police Department would like to thank the Union County Sheriff's Office for their assistance and teamwork in safely bringing this incident to a conclusion. Strong partnerships between law enforcement agencies continue to play a vital role in keeping our communities safe.
While Monroe is always welcoming to visitors, those arriving with six warrants and a probation violation can expect a much shorter stay than planned.
