. Fire-­‐Quip expanded to three locations, Monroe, Ruston and Shreveport, Louisiana and was the dominant fire equipment service company in northern Louisiana. In 1999 Fire-­‐Quip Corporation was sold to Grinnell Fire Protection (Tyco). Norred worked as District General Manager until his non-­‐compete expired. With the support of customers and employees Norred re-­‐entered the market with his new company, Norred Fire Systems, LLC. In 2001. Today, Norred Fire Systems is a full service fire protection company, offering fire extinguishers, fire alarms, fire sprinklers and fire suppression systems for vehicles, commercial kitchens and Industrial applications. In 2003 Norred was awarded the Rivertown Award of Excellence by the Monroe and West Monroe Chambers of Commerce. The award recognizes the outstanding small business in Ouachita parish. Norred served as President of the National Association of Fire Equipment Distributors (NAFED) for two years from 2010 to 2011. He currently serves on the board of directors of the Louisiana Chapter of the American Fire Sprinkler Association. Norred is also a representative on the NFPA 25 fire sprinkler committee for the Inspection and Testing of Water Based Systems. Norred believes in giving back to the industry and the community that we live in. As a member of the Monroe Chamber of Commerce, and other industry related groups we keep giving back to the communities that have given us so much. Norred Fire Systems gives preference to any veteran of the United States military when applying for employment. A veteran of the United States Navy himself, Clayton Norred served our country as a deep sea diver. It is that training and focus on achieving excellence that guides Norred Fire Systems today.
