Support EMS by contacting your State Senator! https://bit.ly/44blZue
The state budget deadline is July 1. Tell your Senator to fix funding issues in the budget that are hurting EMS.
EMS agencies across Michigan are asking our Senators to ensure the budget keeps Medicare and Medicaid reimbursements for EMS in-line with allowable rates and pays Michigan's EMS providers $6M owed for emergency care provided to the state's prisons.

CALL TO ACTION: Tell Michigan Senators to Fix Issues That Are Hurting EMS!

Two changes are needed in the state budget:
1. Updating budget boilerplate to update Medicaid reimbursement at the allowable rate and ensure that budget boilerplate language keeps the Medicaid rates in line with the respective annual Medicare increases.
2. Allocating funds to finally pay providers for service to Michigan’s prisons in 2023 and 2024 that left nearly $6 million owed to providers by the Michigan Department of Corrections.

This week MCA Paramedic Erin Robinson and Frenchtown Township Fire Department FF/Paramedic Tom Hughes were awarded the Monroe County Medical Control Authority Medical Director's Award for exemplary patient care as a result of an out-of-hospital baby delivery they aided with in January.

When Erin and Tom responded to the patient’s 911 call, they found that she was in active labor and began transport to the hospital, but the baby was eager to join the world, and shortly after, a healthy baby boy was born in the back of the ambulance. The delivery took place without any complications, and they were able to resume transport of mom and baby to the hospital, who are both happy and healthy today.

Paramedic Supervisor Eric shared that Erin and Tom’s care and intervention were a “textbook example of how to perform a pre-hospital newborn delivery.” He applauded the team’s work, stating, “This call highlights the excellent skills of our MCA team as well as the strong relationships we have with our community partners. MCA continually works to do its best for our patients and all residents of Monroe County, even the ones that arrive unexpectedly!”

Great work, Erin and Tom! We are very proud to have you serving Monroe County.
