🌿🐾 Happy National Herbs and Spices Day! 🐾🌿

If you've ever watched your Weimaraner sniff every inch of a trail, you already know their noses are something special. In fact, a dog's sense of smell can be up to 100,000 times more powerful than ours! That incredible superpower is one reason why some herbs and spices affect dogs very differently than they affect people.

Today is a great reminder that while certain herbs can offer benefits, others can be surprisingly dangerous for our four-legged friends.

✅ Dog-Friendly Favorites:
🌱 Parsley and mint can help freshen breath naturally.
🧡 Turmeric may support joint health and help reduce inflammation, especially in senior dogs.
🚗 A tiny pinch of ginger can sometimes help settle upset stomachs during car rides.

⚠️ Herbs & Spices to Keep Away From Your Dog:
🧄 Garlic and onion powder can damage red blood cells and lead to serious illness.
🥧 Nutmeg can cause neurological problems, including tremors and seizures.
🌰 Cloves and allspice contain compounds that may be toxic to a dog's liver.

And here's a fun fact: Many dogs enjoy the smell and taste of cinnamon because they naturally gravitate toward sweet flavors. A light dusting in a homemade dog treat is generally safe for most pups.

As rescue volunteers, we're constantly amazed by how curious Weimaraners can be. Whether they're helping in the garden, supervising meal prep, or investigating every grocery bag that enters the house, their noses are always working overtime! 😄

🐶 We'd love to hear from you!

What's the funniest thing your Weimaraner has ever "helped" you cook in the kitchen?
Did your dog ever steal an herb, spice, or ingredient when you weren't looking?

Every day is a learning opportunity when you share your life with a rescue dog. Thank you for helping us educate, advocate, and find loving homes for Weimaraners in need. ❤️

🔍💙 Where’s Waldo… Weimaraner Edition! 💙🔍

It’s time for another installment of our favorite game:

Where’s Waldo the Weimaraner?

(Starring alum Draco, formerly known as Doc!)

We received this hilarious 8-month update from Katrina and McKenzie, and apparently Draco has developed two very important skills since his adoption:

🌽 Being an obedient little gentleman when grilled corn and watermelon are involved.

AND…

🌿 Becoming one with nature whenever it’s time to go in his crate.

Draco has apparently decided that if his humans can’t find him, they can’t possibly ask him to go inside. It’s flawless logic, really.

So today we challenge you:

👀 Can you find Draco hidden in this jungle of vines?

Warning: This level is considerably harder than beginner Weimaraner hide-and-seek. This boy has had eight months to perfect his camouflage skills.

We love seeing updates like this. Not too long ago, Doc was waiting for his forever family. Today, he’s living his best life, stealing hearts, earning snacks, and apparently training for a career as a professional hide-and-seek champion.

Drop a comment when you spot him and let us know how long it took! 😆

💙 Happy 8-month Gotcha-versary, Draco! We couldn’t be happier watching you thrive with your family.
