Every summer, well-meaning owners reach for the clippers thinking they’re helping their dog stay cool. The truth is, a Labrador’s double coat is one of nature’s best cooling systems.

That coat acts as insulation, helping protect your Lab from the summer heat while also providing warmth during colder months. Shaving can permanently damage the coat, cause uneven regrowth, increase the risk of sunburn, and reduce its ability to regulate body temperature.

Instead of shaving, help your Lab beat the heat by:
🐾 Brushing regularly to remove loose undercoat
💧 Providing plenty of fresh, cool water
🌳 Offering shade or air conditioning
🏖️ Letting them enjoy a kiddie pool or cooling mat
🚶 Exercising during the cooler parts of the day

Your Labrador was designed for all seasons. Keep the coat healthy, and it will do its job.
