Week 10
Tonight was another memorable night at Shooters Pub & Grill.
Shout out to: Eli Boyd, Austin Brown, Christy, Lala, the mysterious one named Sean returning to the stage after 30 years and to Messy Marv (if that’s even your real name) for dropping a great set. Thanks to this week's special host, Jacob Blaeser for holding down the fort.
Thanks to Mytv26 and the staff at the Clarion Modesto & our bartender Cherish for the hospitality.
See everybody next week at the Thursday Night TNT Open Mic

Week 8
We're kinda tipping, there was a late start Niner game and there were more folks there for the show than to watch the game. We have honest-to-God regulars that really like our show πŸ˜ƒ
So we started at nine, and low and behold, we had a dearth of performers cause we were all expecting to begin late, like we did the last time there was a 7:30pm pst game.
So Seth Baker rocked out and sang a good dozen songs. πŸ€
Vote for him in the UNPLUGGED category of the Modesto Area Music Awards. He's rad.

We had a fun and interactive audience for the new guy, Austin Brown, who did 20 minutes staring down the mouth of the doomsday machine like a champ (it gets easier, it really does). The Spicy Latina, Serena Gamboa, and our host, Jimmie Menezes, both MAMAnated for BEST COMEDY, closed out with 40 minutes of psychobabble, crowd work, personal stories, rants, silly songs and fun. We even asked the audience to heckle as a warm up for the upcoming show, and boy howdy, did they heckle. And boy howdy was it fun to watch and be a part of. A dozen people never sounded so loud.
There was a cool handful of people that, after last night, undoubtedly became life-long fans of and stayed til the very end to say how much fun they had with us.
Nice meeting you Rolando and Patty, see ya two real soon.
Thanks to Jay and Mytv26 for documenting our lil madhouse and putting it on public access TV for the world to see. It's a jungle out there as a performer, and there's no better way to get ready for it than by jumping head-first into the tiger exhibit at the zoo.
Shout out to our bartender, Cherish for busting her butt to keep everybody happy; and thanks for inviting your brother, he's a fun dude.
See y'all next Thursday for the next dose of .
It's opening night, and an early start east coast game, so game on at the usual time.

Week 6
Shout out to our guest host Dave Garret for holding things down this week while our regular host, Jimmie, was gigging out-of-town.
There wasn't a big crowd, but three audience members went up and tried comedy for the first time because Dave encouraged everyone to sign up. Dave said one audience member was even funnier than the comics.
Thanks to Mytv26 & Cherish for all their help, and thanks to the Clarion Modesto staff.
See y'all next week for

Week 5
Are ya ready for some football!?!
We had a late start time cause the Niner / Cowboy game was competitive til the final whistle, but we had a pretty big audience that stayed til the end of the mic. We were still rockin & rollin with a crowd at midnight.
There's four late start West Coast games on Thursday this season (one being a Niner game), so this week was a great dry run so-to-speak.
We had a performer from China, a comic from LA passing through, local comics, new comics and of course a lotta fun. Plus, Dave Garret figured out how crowd work works right before our very eyes. It was like watching a lil kid open a present on Christmas morning.
We had a heckler that would NOT stop yelling at the comics, and in true fashion, we put the heckler on stage for everybody to heckle. She did ten minutes while everybody was yelling at her.
Thanks to Cherish and the rest of the Clarion staff & Jay from Mytv26 for filming the beautiful disaster of a night.
Damn this is a hard room for comedy. It makes us such better performers having to handle this crowd. The Niner fans would yell NINE-URUUUURS after every punchline.
Thanks to: Jacob, Lala, Dawn, Messy Marv, Taylor, Marcus, Dave, Mike, Austin & Frank the Tank for hitting our stage (yes, we have a stage).
Our regular host Jimmie will be gigging outta town next week, so our special guest host will be the one and only Dave Garret, the shirtless skateboard guy. See y'all next week, we're predicting shenanigans and hilarity once again.

Week 4
This week's Thursday Night TNT was a lotta fun.
They fixed the AC so it was nice & cool inside. We had karaoke working for the first time and a lotta kickass comedians came from as far away as San Francisco to grace our stage.
We also tried a rotating list, ala the Marty's mic in LA, and comics were able to do two sets after everybody did their time their first time through the list. We had a cool lil workshop where we yelled tag lines at the comic onstage working on a new bit.
Thanks to the Clarion Modesto staff, our bartender Cherish and Mytv26 for filming the hilarity and jams.
Thanks to: Mark, Dave, Jacob, Serena, Mike, Eli, Merlin & LB for hitting our mic
And thanks to the Single A baseball team, long haul truckers & bar regulars for having fun with us. Thanks for coming everybody πŸ™

Week 2
This week's Thursday Night TNT was πŸ”₯. We had another Clarion orginal return from retirement to rock our stage, two first timers break their comedy πŸ’, a hip hop act, Eli from Michigan, a comic from San Jose do 20 minutes and an f'n radass crowd that stayed from start to finish. There was even a mean heckler that the audience cursed at til she left. It was almost like when they chant AS***LE at wrestling events, except the word was a lot worse. 😝
Thanks for coming everybody; we're there every Thursday night.
Shout out to Angela for ending her first set ever on an abortion joke and getting an applause break.
The comics are figuring out that crowd work, "going there" and pacing are the key to getting over onstage. Someone wise once said the Clarion is very "'What have you done for me lately', and by lately we mean 45 seconds ago".
Comics were literally getting better before our eyes & Mytv26 was there to film it all.
Thanks to Cherish, Jason and the rest of the staff at the Clarion for the hospitality.
Thanks to everyone who graced our stage (yes, we have a stage now) it was a lotta fun.
See everybody next week for
