How many speeches should you actually have?

My rule of thumb:

• Both sets of parents
• Maid/Matron of Honor
• Best Man
• The newlyweds (optional)

The number of speeches matters less than the length.

I’d rather hear 5 amazing 2-minute speeches than 10 speeches that take 45 minutes total.

Your guests came to celebrate with you, not sit through a TED Talk.
