In music composition we talk about ‘double bar’ moments … the end of the work concludes with a double bar, signifying a moment of completion and hopeful success.

It’s been a minute since I’ve landed a true sonic double bar but this moment might be a new high. The Second Ontology is my first philosophy book and until a smarter editor than me (ie all of them) takes a look at this, a double bar it’ll be.

If anyone knows of a good editor or potential lead at a publisher interested in ‘Big Idea’ books, I am now looking 👀

I didn’t plan to stop drinking long-term 3 years ago; I had to for a medical procedure. During those few weeks I realized how much unnecessary strain alcohol was causing my system. I decided to experiment with no alcohol for another 30 days, the another, and another until I just stopped counting.

Now every April 20 is a chance to count. 1,095 days, 120 lbs lost, BP from 165/110 to 120/65, 1 book in print, 1 almost done. 40 years old in 7 months.

The one thing I can’t count is years added back to my life, but I know without a doubt it is >0.
