ATSS has a client in Covington, LA seeking an experienced Marine Designer to join their growing engineering team!
If you have a strong background in marine design, drafting, and outfitting systems, this is an exciting opportunity to work on commercial and military vessel projects while collaborating with engineers, shipyards, vendors, and customers.
📍 Location: Covington, LA
🕒 Schedule: Monday–Friday | 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM
💼 Industry: Marine Engineering & Shipbuilding
What We're Looking For:
✅ 5+ years of marine drafting/design experience
✅ Proficiency with AutoCAD 2022 or newer
✅ Experience with NAVIS, Rhino, and Cadmatic
✅ Knowledge of joiner systems, outfitting, insulation, furniture layouts, equipment foundations, and vessel arrangements
✅ Ability to interpret technical drawings and construction specifications
✅ Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications:
⚓ Associate Degree in Drafting & Design, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or related field
⚓ Familiarity with SOLAS, ABS, DNV, USCG Regulations, ASTM Standards, and HAB requirements
⚓ Experience in shipyard or marine construction environments
⚓ Knowledge of structural, HVAC, or electrical marine systems is a plus
In this role, you'll create and revise vessel drawings, support ship surveys, coordinate with vendors, maintain engineering documentation, and help bring complex marine projects to life.

What You'll Do:

✅ Develop and execute business development and growth strategies

✅ Build and maintain relationships with the U.S. Navy, USCG, MSC, shipyards, vessel owners, and key contractors

✅ Lead opportunity pursuit from initial contact through contract award

✅ Drive proposal strategy, negotiations, and contract development

✅ Represent the company at industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events

✅ Oversee marketing initiatives and market intelligence efforts

What We're Looking For:

✔ 10+ years of leadership experience in business development, strategy, or marketing within shipbuilding, ship repair, or maritime services

✔ Proven success securing work with government and commercial marine clients

✔ Strong understanding of marine contracting, acquisition processes, and industry regulations

✔ Executive-level negotiation and relationship management skills

✔ Bachelor's Degree required; MBA or Master's preferred

✔ Experience with CRM systems, opportunity tracking, and proposal management tools
