Less than 0.01% of animal abuse cases are ever reported. Not because people don't see it. Because speaking up feels complicated.

A dog being hurt by a neighbor is not a private matter. 85% of people arrested for animal cruelty have multiple prior arrests. 70% of domestic violence offenders were also found to be animal abusers. What looks like one problem is rarely just one problem.

Research shows neighbors are actually more likely to report animal abuse than other forms of family violence — making animal welfare one of the most common entry points for broader intervention.

A dog cannot call for help. Cannot leave. Cannot tell anyone how long it has been going on.

Reporting does not require confrontation. It requires one phone call — to animal control, a humane society, or local police. That is the whole action.

In 2024, animal cruelty prosecutions had a 94.1% conviction rate. The system works when cases reach it. Most never do.

The dog next door cannot make that call. You can.
