Neighborhood Business Owners & Rapid Response, Observers/Obstructors met at the ColorWheel Gallery last week to be Interviewed for a New York Times Article about how Neighborhood Restaurants Supported Each Other, Protected their Employees & Community during our ICEy Cruel Winter 🥶 'metro surge' 🥺 We are Grateful to Everyone that stood up & pushed back against the Federal Occupation of the TwinCities & are Still Out There Fighting Back. Remember even though it is not as intense as it was a few months ago... ICE is still out there & has been doing damage in our communities for the last 25years. They keep changing their tactics.. so Stay Alert. We still need to fight to & work to Reunite Families that were Separated & find the Disappeared 🥺 Research & Follow what's happening at Delaney Hall Immigration detention facility in Newark, New Jersey & all the Human Rights Abuses that have been committed by ICE, DHS & CBP.

Article about The People's Museum For Prince in Southwest Voices 💜 The People's Museum for Prince - Opening Day will be held at Roberts Gallery on Sunday, June 7th.
Art in this exhibit will also be exhibited at Capri Theater & ColorWheel Gallery "Local artist Tammy Ortegon is dedicating some space at her ColorWheel Gallery (319 W. 46th St.) to The People's Museum For Prince which means the Southside will be represented, as well. Ortegon has Prince-inspired artworks of her own going back many years, including her “Raspberry Beret” painting, which she finished a few months after Prince passed. It was installed in 2017 as a wrap on an outdoor utility box at 38th St. and Park Ave. (as part of Project Purple, initiated by the Central Area Neighborhood Development Organization).

She also created a coloring book titled “Rated P 4 Funky” and occasionally hosts pop-up purple coloring parties (next is June 6). At one such gathering in April, featured guest Stephanie Carlson shared stories of being in grade school and middle school with Prince “Skipper” (as he was known then).

“He was really into superheroes, and he thought he was going to be a graphic or drawing artist for many years,” she told the group. Reading from a three-ring notebook with Prince’s symbol on the cover, Carlson shared some of Prince’s writing assignments – a story about superheroes set in the year 2967, his joy of jumping in piles of leaves, Prince as a silver dollar – offering playful glimpses of his early humor and creativity."
