I celebrated 3 years of Sobriety on 2/21/21. Never thought I would have made it this far. My career in the military was going to be over if I could not stop drinking with 4 years left to retire. I didnt even think I was going to make 30 days. But here I am with less than 6 months to retire. But we all know we do this one day at a time. Leaving Fort Gordon, Treatment Facility and going straight to a meeting was the best thing I could have done. I was met with love and I was taken care of and introduced to a sponsor. Lord knows I would have tried to do it myself 😂. 5 steps later … spiritual awakening began. Alcohol was just a symptom! I need God, my higher power, to carry me through. I pray we all have the spiritual awakening through these steps, old, new and those still suffering in silence. The fellowship I have with us is no different than the family I made in combat during Iraq. We all suffered and came out thankful to a power greater than ourselves.
It was suggested to me to get closer to Jesus. AA will save my ass but Jesus will save my soul. I took the suggestions you all gave me and I found Jesus. The same spiritual awakening I had in the 12 steps happened in learning the Bible. Alcohol was just a symptom. I tried to learn the Bible just as I tried to learn the big book on my own as well. Without help, both were too much for me and impossible to do on my own. Today I have found a place that we can learn the Bible, and have a spiritual connection just as we did in AA. I’m not here to offend anyone or debate. I’m just here to offer something that was suggested to me and has magnified my sobriety and given me joy on top of joy to not only learn the Bible but teach small lessons as well. I do this separately from AA or sponsoring anyone.

Just extended a free invitation to those who want to learn the Bible for themselves in an organized manner as we did with the big book. 🙏🏾
