We’ve been taught that putting our thoughts and feelings into writing can be therapeutic. That ex you hate? You write them a letter filled with everything you wish you could say but more often than not, that letter never gets sent. Because part of the healing is in the release of the words themselves.
What if we could do that together right now? Outlets for grief and anger are needed now more than ever. So what if there was a place to release our words of anger and frustration and fear and betrayal by our country so that we can feel more empowered and more connected and more emboldened to take the next step towards action? By no means will it solve our problems or fight the battle that’s waiting for us. But, as Brené Brown said, a micro-dosing of hope, providing a sense of agency and community, a smallest next thing ... right now that may be all we’ve got.
So I gently share with you The Angry Woman: a place to let it all out ... collectively, safely, anonymously ... scream into the void, make it loud, make it ugly, make it honest.
Each letter of anger sent will join the others there so we can find validation and confirmation that what’s happening right now is bu****it, wrong, and scary.
Take your time and when you’re ready, The Angry Woman will be there for you.

Images from my super impromptu shoot with Chance today. Chance works in the Ivy Building, helping to keep things clean and working smoothly. I saw him on my way in to the studio the other day and asked if I could take his portrait. Like many others, he hates smiling in photos and his favorite photos of himself are the ones where you can barely see his face. I, however, like his smile and his face. Afterwards, we talked at length about photography and the world; Minneapolis, the MPD, and the influence they have had on his music.
One of the best parts of having Misfit Studio has been all the new people I've gotten to meet and the ability to invite those people in to have their portraits taken. The world is filled with so many beautiful faces, with stories and life experiences that only add to their beauty (something that AI will never be able to replace and therefore we should never underestimate the importance of the human experience). Here's to hopefully meeting more new people and getting to hear more of their stories.

Turns out Misfit Studio is a cozy place for a snowstorm.
I bet all these posts coming out of Misfit Studio has you thinking, "gosh, how can I book a shoot and be a Misfit?" Well, you're in luck. Later this month my bookings link will go LIVE, with a finalized price menu and everything! So stay tuned, gird your loins, and start thinking about how YOU want to be immortalized (digitally, that is).
love you bye
The best photoshoots are when fast friendships are formed by the end.
Omg that was so cheesy, I'm so sorry.

Good morning, Friday!
Just wanted to provide a gentle reminder on Misfit Studio’s mission and goals as we head into the weekend. Misfit Studio, in addition to being a place for photography services, is also an inclusive space for marginalized folks including (but not limited to) q***r, trans, BIPOC, and womxn. In order for Misfit to provide a safe space in this way, I fully expect anyone who visits Misfit (whether as a client or a visitor) to respect and reflect these principles. Those who are unable to do so (whether it be through derogatory language or other insensitivities) will politely be asked to leave.
With that said, my “door” is always open to continue this conversation and help clear any confusion or concerns someone might have pertaining to these topics.
Cheers and stay weird!
Vanessa
