I am the author of An Intrigue Of Witches, a mystery-adventure series with magic and scifi, and the cozy Enchanted Bay Mystery series featuring plant and water magic.

When I was in Minneapolis I told my Uber driver I was in town for a librarian conference. That I was an author and he asked for the name of my book. Surprised me by asking Grok about my mysteries. 😂

I couldn’t record the first response, but I did get AIs take on An Intrigue of Witches.

He’s Ethiopian and my next book deals with Ethiopian lore so we had a great conversation about the history, and artifacts etc then he offered to beta read for me. 😎

Looking forward to getting his take on my novel. He downloaded the audiobook for An Intrigue Of Witches while I was in the car.

I like to write about the intersection between magic and science. When I focus on the magic and not the science, it’s fantasy like in my Enchanted Bay Mystery series. When I reveal the science behind the magic it’s lightly science fiction, as in An intrigue Of Witches.

In my books, most of the women do not consider themselves witches, that’s how they are perceived by others in their community. They have abilities, some inherited some conferred upon them by ancient technology.

Does that make them witches or advanced and enhanced beings. If one character is born with telepathy, and the other gets a brain chip that allows her to read minds and send thoughts - what’s the difference?

And there is tech being developed and tested right now to give humans abilities that seem like something out of a comic book. That’s what I like to write about...usually wrapped up in cozyish package.

I also like to explore the ethics of using these abilities from a magical and non-pov and also a religious vs non-religious pov.

All makes for interesting storytelling.
