July is Disability Pride Month!

Each July, we recognize Disability Pride Month in honor of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), signed into law on July 26, 1990. This landmark civil rights law helped expand opportunities for individuals with disabilities and affirmed that everyone deserves equal access, inclusion, and respect.

Disability Pride recognizes disability as a natural and valuable part of human diversity. It encourages people to embrace their identities while honoring the unique perspectives, talents, and achievements of individuals with disabilities.

The Disability Pride flag reflects that diversity and strength. Its charcoal background honors those lost to ableism, while the diagonal bands represent overcoming barriers. The colors symbolize different disability experiences: red for physical disabilities, gold for neurodiversity, white for invisible and undiagnosed disabilities, blue for psychiatric disabilities, and green for sensory disabilities.

At MSB Employment Justice, we believe every employee deserves the opportunity to work in an environment where they are respected, supported, and valued. This month, we recognize the progress made toward workplace equality while reaffirming the importance of creating workplaces that are accessible, inclusive, and welcoming to all.
