Independence First - The Resource for People with Disabilities
What do the colors of the Disability Pride Flag mean? 🌈♿
The Disability Pride Flag is a celebration of the diversity, resilience, and strength of the disability community.
Today we took some time to explore the meaning behind each color and the symbolism woven into the flag's design. From visible and invisible disabilities to neurodivergence, psychiatric, sensory, and physical disabilities, the flag communicates that disability is not one experience, but many.
As we celebrate Disability Pride Month, we also celebrate a community that continues to advocate for accessibility, inclusion, and equal opportunity for all.

What a wonderful morning at the Philippine Cultural and Civic Center At Zablocki Park Health & Backpack Fair!
Thank you to the PCCCF for inviting Independence First to be part of this fantastic community event. We enjoyed meeting so many families, answering questions about our programs, and sharing information about the services we provide. We had the opportunity to connect with dozens of attendees, with many conversations centered around our Personal Care Services program and how it helps people with disabilities live independently at home.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by our table, we loved getting to know you! We appreciate the warm welcome and all the work that went into making this event such a success.
We can't wait to come back next year!
