This is a disturbing failure by the paramedics. But the paramedics aren't the only ones at fault here. The state and county have failed transit riders for decades. All transit riders suffer from deplorable conditions, especially in harsh winter weather. It's not only those who die waiting for a bus that suffer. Everyone that survives waiting for a bus suffers as well. Getting across the state's largest city by public transit shouldn't be a test of survival. It should be an easy process that gives riders dignity. Buses should arrive every 10 minutes, ALL stops should be cleared of snow.
This is a simple and obvious solution but it would require reversing decades of cuts, with state and regional cooperation to advance an integrated regional transit system. In the meantime flags should fly at half mast across the state to recognize this horrible tragedy and the ongoing suffering of people who simply need and want to take the bus across metro Milwaukee.
