Not that long ago, I lost a green space that mattered to me. I thought I knew what 'public' meant and I thought that I understood the process of 'speaking up'.
I design parks and open spaces, here in Milwaukee, as my career, and I proudly serve on boards and committees about land use and community assets. And I didn't know what to do to save a public space for all of us.
The place was demolished and I knew that I had to start getting louder and I had to help other people get loud to preserve the spaces and places they love.
I knew it was time to ADVOCATE FIERCELY for the lands and places that are ours collectively.
