We’d like to take today to highlight Nancy Hoffman, PsyD. Dr. Hoffman completed her postdoctoral fellowship in neuropsychology at Kaiser Permanente in San Francisco. As a geriatric neuropsychologist, her areas of specialty in both her clinical practice and her forensic practice include the diagnosis and treatment of various forms of dementia. As an expert witness, she also focuses on issues of capacity, undue influence, and conservatorships in older adults.
Dr. Hoffman has provided numerous professional presentations about capacity and undue influence. And has written several articles on various topics as well as a chapter on the assessment of capacity and undue influence in older adults for Forensic Geropsychology: Practice Essentials (APA Books 2018).
Currently, she’s an Expert Reviewer for the California Board of Psychology. She also serves in various positions on the board of the Northern California Neuropsychology Forum (NCNF) and Division 8 (Neuropsychology) of the California Psychological Association, as well as other professional boards.

John M. Fabian, PsyD, JD, ABPP, is double-board-certified in forensic psychology and clinical psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology. He is a fellowship-trained neuropsychologist and primarily practices as a forensic psychologist and forensic neuropsychologist in criminal, civil, and family law cases.
Dr. Fabian has extensive experience in consulting and examining civil forensic psychological and neuropsychological matters, often on PTSD and traumatic brain injury forensic cases. He has testified in state and federal courts through the U.S. and has evaluated over five thousand adult and juvenile cases, including over eight hundred murder cases. He also specializes in military forensic expert witness evaluations and testimony. His expertise can be found in various peer and law reviewed journals and in book chapters.
Currently, Dr. Fabian has faculty appointments at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at Houston McGovern Medical School Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences Forensic Psychiatry Fellowship Training Program and at the Forensic Psychology Postdoctoral Fellowship, Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Center for Forensic Behavioral Science.
