Distinct Perception

Back in March I had an idea, a crazy wonderful idea, to etch the largest most detailed plate I have ever done. The idea came to me shortly after losing my grandfather, and it came to me randomly one night, about what would the feeling of trauma look like? And this is how this piece “As Within, So Without” was born. People with trauma become desensitized to chaos, and often find themselves drawn to it. The woman on the left refers to what trauma looks like on the outside, they’re calm almost indifferent to the chaos, while the woman on the right represents the feeling inside. In between them both is a heart, the woman on the right is holding her hand out, showing vulnerability, while the other woman guards the heart by holding her hand in front. This is the short of the details behind this piece, this piece took three months to complete, and I couldn’t be prouder of how it turned out ❤️
