Backyard Orphans

When many people think about foster care, they think about adoption.

But in most cases, the primary goal of foster care is reunification.

The goal is to provide children with a safe place to stay while parents work to overcome challenges and create a stable environment for their family.

This Reunification Month, we celebrate the families who have worked hard toward restoration, the foster families who provided care along the way, and the communities that supported them.

2 Corinthians 5:20 calls us to be ambassadors of reconciliation. While this passage speaks of reconciliation with God, it also reminds us of God's heart for restoration.

Whenever it is healthy and safe, reunification is always the goal. And when families are restored, it is worth celebrating.
