After graduating from Platt High School in 2014, Shayna wasn’t sure what came next. Ten years later, as a stay-at-home mom raising two young children, she discovered CT State Middlesex Meriden’s evening classes at Platt, making it possible to pursue college while caring for her family. Returning to the building where she once attended high school became an unforgettable experience. “When I decided to go back to school after 10 years, I was convinced I wouldn't make it… But then I walked into the Platt campus… and there I remembered my favorite teacher, Mr. Ragis. And just like that it all came rushing back,” she said. After finishing her third semester, Shayna is preparing to transfer to SCSU to pursue her dream of becoming a speech-language pathologist.
