Jordon King
A long 6 years but it was definitely worth it. I knew that I wanted to become a biologist since a kid. Therefore, I took the necessary steps to accomplish my goals. Getting involved in research was also the driving factor that made me want to get my Masters.
This research got me my Masters Degree at 23 years old. I researched flocculent organic matter in the
Everglades for 2 years, focusing on its metabolism, biogeochemistry and microbes. The difference between flocculent organic matter and soil is that floc is unconsolidated (looser) and soil is more compact. Floc is the layer directly on top of soil and it helps with soil formation as well. It is also made up of decomposed matter throughout wetlands.
