While working for the City, she coordinated special events and promotions, fundraising and marketing campaigns, conferences and training sessions and other activities geared to promoting city projects and providing information to internal and external stakeholders. In addition, she created and edited publications such as newsletters, event programs & brochures, sponsorship packages, annual reports and other correspondence for city projects. She served as a liaison with neighborhood organizations, community groups, businesses and non-profit organizations and formed partnerships for various projects within the City of Miami. After retiring from the City of Miami in 2013, Vilma pursued her passion and dream of opening her own marketing and advertising specialty company, Promotions Rock, with the mission of providing exceptional service and marketing excellence for her customers. Vilma’s other work experience includes serving as the Regional Development Manager/Miami at Nova Southeastern University, School of Business Administration where she marketed the Doctoral Program in Business Administration (DBA) to prospective students by conducting information sessions, assisting them with registration and helping them develop their portfolio’s. Vilma also worked in sales for Boyle-Midway, a division of American Home Products, a Fortune 500 company and manufacturer of household products (Woolite, Pam, Black Flag and others). She worked as the Territory Manager in the New Orleans and Gulf Coast area calling on wholesalers and retailers. While working at Boyle Midway she won numerous awards such as Territory Manager of the Year Award for sales excellence. Vilma has a Master of Science Degree in Management from St. Thomas University in Miami, Florida where she graduated Cum Laude and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Tennessee at Martin, Tennessee.
