When most people think of an eye bank, they think of corneal transplantation. But today, advanced ocular biologic therapies are creating new ways to help patients heal, reduce pain, and restore quality of life.

One of those therapies is Platelet-Rich Growth Factor (PRGF), an innovative treatment offered through Beauty of Sight’s ocular biologics program. PRGF is created using a patient’s own blood and specially processed to concentrate natural growth factors that support the healing of the ocular surface.

While traditional serum tears provide important lubrication and nutrients for patients with severe dry eye and ocular surface disease, PRGF delivers a higher concentration of regenerative growth factors designed to promote tissue repair, reduce inflammation, and support healing in more complex cases.

Because of her donors and their families, she has been able to continue seeing the most meaningful moments of her life, including her sons walking across the graduation stage, beginning their college journeys, and growing into the young men they are today. These memories, which she may have otherwise missed, are treasures she carries with deep gratitude.

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Past President A. Geoffrey Wade, PID, a dedicated Lion, visionary leader, and steadfast supporter of Beauty of Sight.

Geoff first joined the Eye Bank Board of Directors in 2012 and went on to serve as Treasurer beginning in 2014. A financial manager by profession, he used his expertise to thoughtfully guide the organization’s financial strategy—helping to grow our investment accounts and ensure the long-term sustainability of our mission.

He later served as President of the Eye Bank during the 2021–2022 Lionistic year and as President of the Beauty of Sight Foundation from 2022 to 2025, leading with strength, clarity, and unwavering commitment. Under his leadership, Beauty of Sight continued to advance innovation and expand services, while launching a capital campaign to raise critical funds and further enhance our ability to serve patients and the ophthalmic community.

Geoff’s leadership, integrity, and passion for service will not be forgotten. His legacy lives on through the lives we continue to touch and the future he helped shape.

We extend our deepest condolences to his wife, Nancy, and to his family, friends, and fellow Lions during this difficult time.
