In 1993, a dream came true: AC Schnitzer built the CLS, the first road-legal race-touring car. At the same time, the CLS was our first concept car. Incidentally, the shortcut stands for “Coupé Lightweight Silhouette.” The base was the BMW M3 E36 with a 3.0-liter engine, which was tuned to 235 kW/320 hp. The car gained 160 kg in weight reduction and was equipped with a high-performance braking system and a racing suspension.
