On President’s day we would like to highlight the story of President George Washington that was written in his first biography by Mason Locke “Parson” Weems, first published in 1806—years after Washington’s death, and 200 years ago:
At age six, George received a hatchet and used it to chop down one of his father’s favorite cherry trees.
When his father, Augustine, discovered the damage and asked who did it, George replied, “I cannot tell a lie, Pa; you know I can’t tell a lie. I did cut it with my hatchet”. Instead of punishing him, his father embraced him, declaring his honesty worth more than a thousand trees. 
HONESTY is a fundamental, mandatory ethical pillar in life and in law, enforced through duties of candor to courts and truthfulness to clients and third parties.
