Another recommendation. HBO Max. The Fallout. DIfficult subject but so well done. The female writer/director's soft touch is evident throughout.
The Fallout (2021) is a teen drama film written and directed by Megan Park, starring Jenna Ortega as a high school student dealing with the emotional trauma of a school shooting. The movie follows her journey as she forms a unique bond with other survivors, Mia (Maddie Ziegler) and Chase (Niles Fitch), navigating grief, PTSD, and the aftermath of the tragedy. Praised for its realistic portrayal of trauma and strong performances, especially Ortega's, the film premiered at SXSW in 2021 and was released on HBO Max in 2022.
