As loyal readers celebrate the magazine’s long-awaited return to a physical format, one thing is clear: the glossy new print edition featuring on the cover represents Quincy Jones’s expansive vision to the fullest, celebrating all aspects of hip hop culture—fashion, film, art, photography, and great music in every style. Along with features on D’Angelo and Kehlani, a fashion spread featuring Lauryn Hill’s family, and an in-depth story on the legendary Bronx roller rink known as Skate Key, the latest issue of VIBE continues to represent for Reggae and Dancehall culture with the return of BoomShots.
Launching in 1993, Rob Kenner’s monthly BoomShots column is the first space highlighting Reggae and Dancehall music in a major international publication. BoomShots became an institution within music journalism, showcasing the brightest stars of Reggae and Dancehall with the same respect afforded to other great musical genres. Over the years the BoomShots Award recognized Reggae and Dancehall artists on the nationally televised VIBE Awards, and VIBE even put a BoomShots-certified Dancehall artist on the cover when Kenner wrote a 2003 cover story on Sean Paul.
Since then BoomShots has evolved into a respected digital platform in its own right with the popular BoomshotsTV channel on YouTube. This latest collaboration between VIBE and BoomShots promises greater things to come in the future. Nuff Respect.

Vybz Kartel’s ‘God and Time’ is the fully focused body of work his fans and supporters have been waiting for since he returned home in the Summer of 2024 after 13 years in captivity. While the album is stacked with high-profile collabs—Spice, Wizkid, Farruko, Shenseea, Skillibeng, Mavado—and the guest artists do not disappoint, it’s impossible to outshine the album’s powerful title track. “Me lose but me win again,” Kartel reflects on the tune. “So many lessons but so many blessings.” Just like all the best music since day one, ‘God and Time’ is Timeless.
