Happy Mother’s Day to all the incredible moms and grandmas who make our world brighter every single day.

Today, I especially celebrate my beautiful wife, Licette, whose love, strength, and heart inspire our family daily, and my mom, who taught me the meaning of unconditional love and sacrifice.

I’m also so grateful for the wonderful mothers and grandmothers on my staff who balance service, leadership, and family with so much grace and dedication.

And today, we also remember and honor the mothers and grandmothers watching over us from heaven, whose love and legacy continue to live in our hearts every day.

Wishing all the mothers out there a day filled with love, appreciation, and joy.

For Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, I had the opportunity to spend the day alongside some of the brave men and women who put their lives on the line to keep our community safe every single day. From a ride-along to the shooting range and even taking flight with aviation, it was an unforgettable experience that gave me an even greater appreciation for the work our deputies do behind the scenes.

A huge thank you to the Hammocks NRU, Sgt. Armando Borrego, Aviation Pilots Sgt. Chad Murphy, Deputy Jonathan Dweck, and Deputy Mario Hernandez for welcoming me and giving me a firsthand look at the incredible work being done every day to serve and protect our community.

Special thank you to Deputy Joseph Peguero Rivera and the Sheriff’s office for helping coordinate this incredible experience and making it all possible.

Today and every day, we thank our law enforcement officers for their sacrifice, courage, and commitment to our community.

Applications are now open for the 2026 Youth Engagement Program. I am proud to bring this program back and continue giving students a real, hands-on look at how local government works. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about public policy, meet community leaders, and build skills that will stay with them long after the program ends.

The program runs from July 13 through July 24, 2026, and is open to students who want to get involved and make a difference. Apply by scanning the QR code or visiting the link. I am looking forward to welcoming the next group of young leaders here in Miami-Dade County.

In honor of International Firefighters’ Day, we had the privilege of visiting our Miami-Dade Fire Rescue stations across our district and delivering groceries and pastelitos as a small gesture of appreciation for the men and women who serve our community every day.

We made stops at Station 47, Station 3, Station 13, Station 41, Station 37, Station 57, and Station 9.

This effort was made possible thanks to our incredible partners: Target, Publix, Costco, and Pinecrest Bakery. Their generosity and support allowed us to show up for our firefighters in a meaningful way, and we are truly grateful for their commitment to our community.

To every firefighter and their families: thank you for your service, your sacrifice, and your dedication to keeping our district safe.

From our community to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, Happy International Firefighters’ Day.
