Good morning, Framily! If you have an upcoming Senior (or Junior) student this year or you know one who has not met their Florida graduation requirements, either the 10th Grade ELA FAST or the Algebra 1 EOC, PLEASE, PLEASE do not wait until it's too late to get them HELP!

After working with a couple of students lately, I realized that alot of the upcoming Seniors took Algebra 1 during the pandemic (COVID). They did not receive the instruction needed to pass the Algebra 1 EOC and no students failed that year and were passed to Geometry without the basic Algebra skills.

The Algebra 1 EOC covers 40 different standards! The students who took Algebra 1 "this year" had a state passing rate of 50% and they were actually taught/learned the material "this year"! Passing a "retake" when you do not have the basics of Algebra 1 is very difficult. However, there are alternate assessments that can be used to satisfy the ELA and Algebra 1 EOC requirements such as the ACT Test!
