This Labor Day Weekend, our beloved, student-led virtual "race" returns as we celebrate 35 years of Breakthrough Miami. Choose YOUR own 35 activity in honor of our 35th! Run, walk, bike, dance, paddle, swim, volunteer, climb, skate, or design YOUR own activity to make a move for Breakthrough and open doors of OPPORTUNITY!

Briana's Scholar journey began in 2007 when she attended a Breakthrough Miami presentation at her elementary school. From there, her journey continued from Scholar to Teaching Fellow, then on to earning a degree in Molecular Biology from Princeton University, completing her PhD at Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences, the MD-PhD program at Tri-Institutional, and finally, graduating from Weill Cornell Medicine.

Today, Briana is a highly skilled physician-scientist and advocate whose work focuses on advancing equity in medicine, research, and education. Along the way, she has earned numerous honors, including Princeton Innovation’s 25 Under 25 in STEM recognition and prestigious awards celebrating her leadership, service, and advocacy for first-generation and underrepresented students.

Briana credits Breakthrough Miami with helping shape her love of learning and inspiring her to dream bigger. Through our program, Briana discovered that learning could be engaging, meaningful, and transformative. Inspired by the Teaching Fellows who invested in her growth, she developed a passion for service, mentorship, and creating opportunities for others.

Today, that same spirit fuels her work as a pediatrician-scientist committed to serving others. This is what happens when purpose meets OPPORTUNITY. 💡
