Hey friends!

Just dropping by with a little reminder to STOP and prioritize your happiness. I used to be guilty of three habits that kept me from feeling truly content: comparing myself to others, focusing on what I cannot control, and spending time with toxic people.

Through personal growth and self-reflection, I've learned that these patterns only lead to feelings of inadequacy, stress, and negativity.

So, let's take a step back and evaluate our own habits. Are we constantly scrolling through social media and comparing our lives to others? Are we fixating on things we cannot change, instead of focusing on the things that are within our power? Are we spending time with people who drain our energy, instead of lift us up?

If the answer is yes to any of these, it's time to make a change. Let's make a conscious effort to prioritize our mental well-being and cut out these negative influences from our lives. Remember, happiness is not a destination, it's a journey.

Of all the information humans need as adults, we didn't get access to much of that needed info in school. In the aftermath of forced shut downs and isolation, one of the things our kids need the most today is an education on how to manage emotions. The challenge is that adults don't know how to do that either.

Our subconscious mind carries an imprint of all our past experiences, both positive and negative. It's where our beliefs come from, both about the outside world and about ourselves. The subcounscious mind is the most powerful part of our mind.
It's where our emotions come from and what controls all of our habitual behavior.

Without regulation of emotion, our subconscious mind controls us. We operate off of past experiences, triggers, beliefs and emotions. When our emotions are unregulated, we're all over the place. Our mind (emotions) are controlling us at that point. It's important to learn regulation and make sure our emotions don't have control over us. Here are some things you can do:

1. Journaling - all of my clients know that this is my favorite healing tool. Remember what I said about carrying your emotions with you? You're going to keep doing that if you don't find a way to let them go. Those feelings that no longer serve you are the basis for what triggers and torments you. It's okay to set them down and walk into a space that feels safe and supportive (even if you create that space yourself).

2. Connect with Nature - connecting with the Earth's surface quite literally recharges you. The negative ions have a calming effect. This practice is beneficial not only for your emotional balancing, but also for your physical and mental health as well. There's a reason you always feel so good when you're outside. You HAVE noticed that, haven't you?

3. Meditation or Prayer - meditation is helpful because it quiets down all those negative subconscious thoughts and helps you to be aware of the what's running through your mind. It helps you take your power back. Prayer is helpful becuase it strengthens your relationship with God (or your higher power) and enables to give your challenges to God and let them go.

4. EFT or TFT Tapping - I just recently tried this for the first time after knowing about it for years. I'm telling you, it's magic. Tapping is based on the same science as Chinese Medicine and it uses the same meridians as acupunture. This modality works because it literally releases all the stuck emotions you're carrying. If you think this sounds nuts, I get it. Don't knock it til you try it though.

I used to live in a victim mentality, with a chip on my shoulder, blaming everyone for my problems, wanting more but not believing I deserved it, stressed, angry, traumatized, triggered, overwhelmed and over it. Learning how to regulate my emotions, although it was a journey, literally transformed my life.
