Regarding tonight’s Citizens’ independent transportation trust vote, we are extremely disappointed the County sided with private interests over transit riders.

For a moment, transit riders had a chance to be heard and get a solution that finally worked for them and not for private interests.

Our County failed its riders and residents today.

The monorail isn’t a transit solution, it’s a ribbon-cutting project for politicians and a profit generator for a maybe future casino.

To our Mayor and Commissioners: stop using transit as a bargaining chip for private interests. The people want and voted for rapid transit. It’s time you honor that.
