Silversea Cruises, a luxury cruise line operated by Royal Caribbean Group, confirmed in a statement today that they will acquire the recently liquidated Crystal Endeavor. Crystal Cruises’ ships are now being sold off after failing to pay fuel costs and filing for bankruptcy in February. The Crystal Endeavor is one of the most advanced icebreaker yachts in the word, with a Polar Class rating and a private submarine. Meanwhile, Silversea is greatly expanding its presence in the luxury cruising market in an attempt to fill the gap left by Crystal in the industry.

Ten COVID-19 cases were detected yesterday and confirmed today by Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, Ltd. The cases were onboard the Norwegian Breakaway, on a 7-night, mixed-vaccination status, Western Caribbean cruise out of New Orleans, Louisiana. All 3,200 passengers are currently quarantined and in isolation until an unspecified date.

The MSC World Europa, one of the world’s largest cruise-ships-to-be, was floated out this week. Very similar to Royal Caribbean International’s Oasis Class, this new vessel will be 1,060 feet long and be able to carry over 5,000 passengers.
