π₯ MAGIC HOT FUDGE PUDDING CAKE β It Makes Its Own Gooey Sauce! π₯
Cake on top, molten chocolate fudge underneath... pure chocolate heaven in one pan! ππ«π°
This old-school self-saucing wonder is ridiculously easy β no fancy mixer needed, just mix, sprinkle, pour hot water (yes, really!), and bake. The magic happens in the oven: batter rises into a tender chocolate cake while a rich, lava-like fudge sauce forms below. Scoop it warm and watch it ooze... perfection!
Ingredients
Cake Batter:
1 cup all-purpose flour π₯£
ΒΎ cup granulated sugar π¬
2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder π«
2 tsp baking powder π§
Pinch of salt π§
Β½ cup milk π₯
2 tbsp vegetable oil or melted butter π’οΈ
1 tsp vanilla extract π¦
Fudge Topping:
Β½ cup brown sugar π¬
3 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder π«
1 cup hot water π§
Instructions
Preheat oven to 180Β°C (350Β°F). Grease an 8x8-inch baking dish (or similar).
In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, and salt.
Stir in milk, oil, and vanilla until smooth β it'll be thick like brownie batter. Spread evenly into the dish.
Mix brown sugar and cocoa; sprinkle evenly over the batter (don't stir!).
Gently pour the hot water over the top β yes, it looks weird, but DON'T stir! This creates the magic sauce.
Bake 30β35 minutes until the top is set and crackly. The edges will bubble with fudge goodness.
Let rest 10 minutes (sauce thickens as it cools slightly).
Scoop into bowls β cake + sauce in every bite! Serve warm with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, or just as is. π
Pro tip: Best eaten fresh β the sauce is at its gooiest right out of the oven!
