In a dramatic turn in one of Massachusetts’ most high-profile cases, Karen Read, who was recently acquitted of murder charges in the 2022 death of her boyfriend, Boston Police Officer John O’Keefe, has filed a civil lawsuit accusing state police and several witnesses of orchestrating a conspiracy to frame her while shielding the true culprits.
The 46-page lawsuit names former Massachusetts State Trooper Michael Proctor, Sgt. Yuriy Bukhenik, Lt. Brian Tully, and civilians Brian Albert, Nicole Albert, Brian Higgins, Jennifer McCabe, and Matthew McCabe as defendants. Read seeks damages and a jury trial, alleging “gross misconduct” by the Massachusetts State Police and those working with them to cover up O’Keefe’s death.
Read’s complaint asserts that O’Keefe was not struck by her vehicle but was killed inside the Alberts’ home during an altercation at a late-night party following heavy drinking. Instead of seeking help, the defendants allegedly conducted a Google search for “hos long to die in cold” and moved his body outside to stage the scene.
The suit accuses the defendants of a “vast conspiracy” among a well-connected social group to deflect blame onto Read. Specific claims include evidence tampering—such as planting taillight fragments and glass on her vehicle and O’Keefe’s clothing—deleting surveillance footage, and falsifying reports. Investigators are also accused of failing to search the house for blood or DNA evidence and conducting biased interviews.
Lead investigator Michael Proctor, who was fired after offensive texts about Read surfaced, is highlighted for his alleged bias and personal ties to the Albert family. The lawsuit states Proctor called Read derogatory names and declared her “f—ed” early in the probe.
The defendants have denied the allegations. In a statement, attorneys for Higgins, the Alberts, and the McCabes called the claims “entirely false, defamatory, and without merit,” vowing to defend vigorously.

I’ve covered this case for several years. It’s a saga that has gripped Tennessee where the Solomon family remains entangled in allegations of child abuse, a suspicious death, and a high-profile arrest that supporters call a desperate bid to silence a mother’s cries for justice.
It all starts with the 2020 death of 18-year-old Grant Solomon, ruled an accident but decried by his mother and sister as murder, amid claims of a cover-up involving courts, police, and powerful figures.
Grant Solomon’s died in a ditch in Gallatin, Tennessee, following what authorities described as an accident in which his own pickup truck rolled over him. His father, Aaron Solomon—a former WSMV-TV news anchor turned financial analyst—was there the day Grant died, telling investigators the teen was behind his truck when it somehow rolled backward into the ditch, pinning and crushing him.
Grant had turned 18 just weeks earlier and had vowed to testify in court about alleged physical and SA his younger sister, Gracie, allegedly suffered at Aaron’s hands—a detail that has fueled suspicions of foul play.
Angie Solomon, Grant and Gracie’s mother, has long maintained that Aaron orchestrated the death to prevent Grant’s testimony. “Grant was our light, our protector,” Angie said in a 2024 NewsNation interview, her voice breaking as she described her son’s final days. But The Gallatin Police Department closed the case as an accident within days, without a full investigation, citing Aaron’s account as sufficient.
The family’s ordeal traces back to a bitter 2013 divorce, where Aaron secured full custody of Grant and Gracie despite multiple abuse allegations documented in court records. Gracie has echoed these claims, describing in affidavits the alleged abuse she endured at the hands of her father.
The plot thickened dramatically in April 2025, when Franklin police arrested Angie, 56, on charges of solicitation to commit first-degree murder. Authorities alleged she attempted to hire an undercover officer to kill Aaron, her ex-husband, in a sting operation that echoed cases from Dateline. Angie pleaded not guilty at her April 30 hearing, held on a $500,000 bond she couldn’t initially post. Supporters, including victims’ rights groups like SNAP Network, decried the arrest as retaliation for her activism. “This is what happens when you challenge the system,” said podcast host Lauren Conlin on NewsNation.
With her brother gone and her mother accused of murder for hire… Gracie now takes the lead.
According to investigative outlet Anglican Watch Gracie has filed a civil lawsuit against her father Aaron alleging child SA during her minority. The suit, docketed pseudonymously as “Jane Doe vs. Aaron Solomon,” details years of grooming and assaults, echoing allegations that first made national headlines after Grant’s death.
Gracie’s bold move follows her own harrowing video testimony shortly after Grant’s death, in which she directly accused Aaron of abusing her and orchestrating her brother’s demise—a clip that has since amplified the family’s story across media platforms.
Aaron Solomon has not been charged with any crime and denies all allegations.
