Changsha Meixihu International Culture and Art Centre Designed by _
The new Culture & Arts Centre by Zaha Hadid Architects incorporates a contemporary art museum (MICA), a 1,800-seat theatre with supporting facilities and a multipurpose hall. Its organic architectural language is defined by pedestrian routes that weave through the site to connect with neighbouring streets. Providing views of the adjacent Meixi Lake from the city and giving access to the parks and walking trails on the lake’s Festival Island, this ensemble of three separate cultural institutions creates external courtyards where pedestrian routes intersect for outdoor events and sculpture exhibitions.
_
Designed for the widest variety of performing arts, the Grand Theatre provides all front-of-house functions in sculpted lobbies, bars, and hospitality suites, as well as the necessary ancillary functions including administration offices, rehearsal studios, backstage logistics, wardrobe, and dressing rooms. With eight juxtaposed exhibition galleries totaling 10,000 sq.m centered around an atrium for large-scale installations and events, the MICA art museum also includes dedicated spaces for community workshops, a lecture theatre, café, and museum shop.

The Naked House by
_
The challenge begins with the dimensions of the plot, an urban residue resulting from the subdivision of a family home, the area of 6.5 m x 27.5 m with a west facade was not the most encouraging for the needs of a house.
_
The solution solved problems of sun exposure to the west and the difficulty of cross ventilation in all spaces, creating a barrier with services to the west and separating the house from the northern boundary leaving only 80 cms that allow an "air chimney", which works successfully.
_
The elements of passive conditioning become an integral part of the design, the pool that cools the air before traversing the house, the glass wall to the east that lets you open or close the space and control the flow and volume of air, sliding glass doors to the air chimney that create natural light from the north and increased ventilation, a green wall to the west reinforcing the thermal barrier, permaculture planters that always kept with water avoid overheating the access area and intermediate courtyards as the transition from access to living area and to the inner courtyard of the bedroom.

The River House by

_
“The continuation of Bali’s beautiful landscape into the Inside of the building is one of our key credos in architectural design-for the river house we embedded the existing topography and used it as the over-arching feature for a three-dimensional experience. Different passages, walkways, and spaces lead through the house. We used reclaimed timber and locally sourced sandstone to create surfaces and textures that evoke a sense of timelessness, firmness, and reference back to Bali’s vernacular building culture.”
