Did you know that reading the same books multiple times is a highly effective way to boost your child's vocabulary? While it might be tempting to constantly switch up the reading material, repeating the same books over and over helps children solidify new words and concepts in their brains.
But just reading the words isn't always enough. To take the learning experience to the next level, try adding a fill-in-the-blank activity to the mix. After reading the book together a few times, pause at certain points and ask your child to fill in the missing word. For example, in "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?" you can say, "Brown bear, brown bear, what do you ____?" and let your child fill in the blank. This interactive approach engages their brain and helps them to actively participate in the learning process.
So don't be afraid to read the same books again and again. It may seem repetitive, but it's a great way to help your child build their vocabulary and strengthen their language skills.
