🌍 South Florida’s Matrix of Logistics 🌎
Nonstop movement by land, sea, and air—this is what powers South Florida’s role as a global trade gateway.
In celebration of World Trade Month, we spotlight the region’s three major logistics engines: , , and Miami International Airport (). Together, they move billions in cargo and connect South Florida to the world’s most vital trade corridors.
📍 PortMiami: Trading with more than 100 countries and handling over 1 million TEUs each year, PortMiami continues to position itself as the Cargo Gateway of the Americas.
📍 Port Everglades: With $33 billion in trade value in 2023, it stands as a hub for refrigerated goods, Latin American trade, and petroleum, plus a recent $437.5 million federal grant to deepen its channel.
📍 Miami International Airport (MIA): In 2023, MIA processed $71.5 billion in international freight—more than any other U.S. airport.
“Miami-Dade County is one of the top trading destinations of the Americas, thanks to the world-class infrastructure and operations that run our record-breaking airport and seaport every day,” —

Doral’s transformation is one of South Florida’s most striking. Once primarily a logistics hub, the city has evolved into a master-planned community, with its population growing from 25,000 in 2019 to 80,000 today.
“We took an area in the western part of Dade County where there wasn’t anything and built a community,” says founding mayor Juan Carlos Bermudez.
Now, developers are racing to secure what little land remains. Among them: and Ernesto De Lucas, who recently broke ground on Doral Parc: Midtown Doral Phase IV, V & VI — a 552-unit residential development with retail space. The most visible example of the city’s growth remains Codina Partners’ Downtown Doral.
“Doral is evolving, and so are we,” says MG Developer CEO . For Torrealba, whose first U.S. office was in Doral, the project marks a full-circle moment — deepening his commitment to a city rooted in the Latin American community.
