The serve is one of the most important shots in tennis, if not the most important shot. As we know, if you don’t serve, you don’t play.

The serve can be the strongest weapon in your game, when the technique is done correctly. Otherwise, it can be your greatest liability. There are many factors that make a great serve, but one of the most trickiest parts is the toss.

In order to master the toss, it requires a lot of practice, many times of your own. But here a few key points about the toss:

1️⃣ Place the ball in the middle of your hand, meaning exactly where the palm spreads out into fingers.

2️⃣ Hold the ball with your thumb on top gently.

3️⃣ Always toss with a straight arm using only your shoulder joint. (Slide ➡️ to see proper technique)

4️⃣ Release the ball at around your eye level and keep lifting the arm up following the ball.
