The people showed up, and the pictures tell it.
On the eve of America's 250th birthday, the Pridelines coalition marched over 50 strong through Downtown Fort Lauderdale, with two buses rolling up from Miami-Dade to stand in solidarity for our democracy and the pluralistic society that makes America great. Chosen family, congregations, and neighbors, side by side in the collective whole of We The People.
Deep gratitude to and for all the hard work that made Friday possible, and to every partner who walked with us: AQUA, No Reservations, the Pride Lounge, United Churches of South Florida, and UU Miami.

COSPLASH was everything we hoped for and then some. Heroes in the deep end, villains by the bar, capes drifting in the breeze, and a whole pool full of our people serving looks all afternoon. Swipe through and relive the magic with us.

Today, over the Manhattan skyline, a banner caught the wind: "When the power of love beats the love of power, the world knows peace." The line was first spoken by 19th-century British statesman William Gladstone, though most of us have heard it handed to Jimi Hendrix.
The two who flew it were Angela Nikolau, 33, and Ivan Beerkus, 32. In a moment when so much of the world runs on fear and force, they climbed toward the sky and said the opposite as loudly and as visibly as two people can. Love over power. Peace as the point. Each other above all of it. And yeah, go get it, Millennials.
That's the whole idea. When we quiet the noise of power and let love lead, peace stops being a wish and becomes a direction we can walk.
This Friday, we carry that same message into the streets of Downtown Fort Lauderdale. Different skyline, same truth. Love is louder, and there are more of us than they think.
