It’s CPR and AED Awareness Week ❤

Did you know that many public places have an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) on-site? You'll often find AEDs in schools, airports, shopping centers, and more. AEDs are designed to be used by anyone—even without medical training—and they provide clear step-by-step instructions to help save a life until emergency responders arrive.

In the City of Meridian, we have an AED in all our city buildings, community centers, and the following public parks:
📍Settlers
📍Kleiner
📍Heroes
📍Bear Creek
📍Storey
📍Tully
📍Discovery Park.

Take a moment to learn where AEDs are located in the places you visit most often. Awareness and quick action can make all the difference. You never know when knowing the location of an AED could help save a life.

We're grateful for the partnership of local businesses and proud of the rapid response from our crews that helped prevent a much larger incident.

Thank you to Grant's for the kind words, and thank you to our community for your support of Meridian Fire. 🚒🔥

News flash, Grant's is fine. We had a small thermal event behind the restaurant yesterday. Our catering van got torched... reason unknown! No foul play suspected. Hats off to the Meridian Fire Dept for their fast response. They saved the restaurant from possible doom.

We're open business as usual.

This Week's Water Safety Tip 💧

Learn CPR

Immediate CPR can double or even triple someone’s chance of surviving cardiac arrest. But sadly, less than half of all people who need this lifesaving intervention receive CPR from bystanders before professional help arrives.

Knowing CPR can make the difference between panic and action in a water emergency. Whether you’re at the pool, lake, or beach, strong swimmers still face risks — and quick CPR can save a life before first responders arrive. This summer, add CPR training to your water safety checklist. 💙🌊

Congratulations to the graduates of this year’s Public Safety Academy! 🎓🚒👮

Over the past 9 weeks, these community members got an inside look at the work of the Meridian Fire Department and Meridian Police Department through hands-on training, live demonstrations, presentations, and behind-the-scenes experiences. From learning emergency response tactics to exploring specialized equipment and operations, participants gained a deeper understanding of the dedication and teamwork it takes to serve our community every day.

Thank you to everyone who took part in this year’s academy and to the crews and staff who helped make it such a success. We’re proud to build stronger connections with the community we serve!

Interested in joining next year’s class? Keep an eye out for applications opening in March 2027!
